Bishop Dr. Jonathan G. Smith
Missionary Bishop, Reach Global Missions

The Right Reverend Dr. Jonathan G. Smith is a Missionary Bishop, pastor, theologian, and teacher whose life and ministry have been shaped by a deep missionary calling. A follower of Jesus since the age of seven, he has long carried a burden to see the Gospel proclaimed faithfully and courageously in every sphere of life.
Ordained as an Anglican minister in 2011, Jonathan has devoted his ministry to church planting, pastoral leadership, and the formation of leaders for Gospel mission. He has served as pastor of Trinity Anglican Church of Orlando and later Redeemer Church in Casselberry, Florida, where he continues to minister. Throughout his ministry, he has been actively engaged in missionary work across multiple continents, launching and supporting initiatives that advance the Kingdom of God through church planting, leadership development, and holistic mission.
As a Missionary Bishop, Jonathan understands his calling in Pauline terms: to preach the Kingdom, guard the faith, and raise up faithful leaders. A central dimension of his episcopal office is the support, encouragement, and oversight of missionaries. He works closely with clergy, commissioned ministers, and apostolic leaders, providing pastoral care, doctrinal guidance, and strategic direction. He views episcopal ministry not as hierarchical authority, but as shepherding oversight, ensuring that those sent into the harvest are equipped, accountable, and spiritually sustained.
Jonathan’s preparation for ministry included an early career in the corporate world with Merck & Co., where he developed expertise in leadership and organizational development. In 2008, he left that career to pursue theological training. He later served as the founding Dean of Distance Education at Knox Theological Seminary, helping pioneer online theological education while completing advanced studies. In 2025, he earned his Ph.D. in Christian Ethics from Aidan University, focusing on the intersection of faith, culture, and human identity.
Jonathan has been married to his wife, Ivey Rose, for more than twenty-five years. Together they have raised three children and have sought to build a home marked by faith, hospitality, and joyful service to Christ. His family remains a central part of his vocation, reminding him that pastoral and missionary leadership begins with faithful stewardship at home.
Today, Bishop Jonathan serves as President of Aidan University and provides leadership within Reach and related missionary networks. At the heart of his work is a simple conviction: Jesus Christ is Lord, and His Church is sent. As a missionary bishop, he remains committed to strengthening the Church, supporting those on the frontlines of mission, and calling all believers to faithful allegiance to King Jesus.
